Set on the stunning East coast of Ireland, overlooking the Mountains of Mourne, Dunany is a place of dreams, surrounded by the sea and glorious natural woodland.
Partly re-wilded, a haven for wildlife and bees, 5 generations of the Workman family have sympathetically farmed the rich soil of County Louth.
Dunany Flour has exceptional flavour and works with many types of breads from 100% wholemeal Spelt soda bread to combinations with other flours for yeast and sourdough loaves, pizza bases and traditional soda breads. Spelt Berries are a component of nutritious summer salads or risottos and are a wholesome accompaniment to hearty winter soups.
Andrew and Leonie Workman took over the family farm in 1981, converting to fully organic in 2006. Believing in a more sustainable way of farming and food production. Our cereal farm is now a unique niche business which has grown from strength to strength. Growing, harvesting, milling and packing our organic grains into a range of wholemeal flours all within our family business and farm. Every part of production is overseen with quality as a priority and care.
After researching varieties and sourcing seeds from Europe, we trialled spelt and rye, which grew extremely well in the Irish climate. Sourcing special mills from Denmark and France we are able to produce the extra course and fine textures enjoyed by so many of our customers, adding an additional unique quality to the character of our flours and the baking in which they are used.
As an award winning family business we are very proud of what we produce at Dunany. Every bag of flour is milled to order so it's always fresh and ready for baking.
Dunany Flour is available in health food stores, groceries and some supermarkets Nationwide. Find us by contacting our distributors at Sheridan's and Taste the View.
